Description
The Yahnis Company is one of the largest family-owned wholesale beverage distributors in South Carolina, delivering the best local, regional and global products from Molson/Miller/Coors, Pabst Brewing Co., Yuengling and Heineken.
Operating from the Florence, SC headquarters, the staff accountant will support the accounting department's efforts in preparing and maintaining financial records. Reporting directly to the CFO, the staff accountant's responsibilities will evolve into a supervisory role. CPA licensure is not required. New grads with a 4-year accounting degree are encouraged to apply.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in annual physical inventory.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Focused organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- 0-2 years experience OK, new grads encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
- Additional assignments outside normal schedule are possible
